Yes it can mess you up. Goldfish are very cheap fish so to be marketable they are transported and held in very crowded conditions where the water is permeated with their own feces and ammonia. Tropical fish have given people tuberculosis even without eating them and hepatitis is also a risk.

Most fish-keepers I know who keep predatory fish will not feed them goldfish because they are so disease and parasite ridden.

But it depends how much you can handle it in your stomach. It won't "mess you up" but it might make you get sick.

You'd just puke it up, which is good in case it carried tape worms or a disease.

But puking or not puking would be fine.

Eating raw fish (alive or not) can give you various parasitic and bacterial diseases.

If symptoms continue, see a doctor who knows something about parasitology and explain that you ate a live fish.

No, I do not believe that eating a gold fish will "Mess you up". It is no diffrent then just eating raw fish. Make you sick sure but I can not see it posing any health problems
