So...we made the mistake of allowing our dog on our fabric sofa. It now smells like dog. :( I just had it professionally steam cleaned yesterday, and today it smells worse. Any suggestions???
Most professional cleaners guarantee their work. I would talk to them and see if they can't try again. I personally think Fabreeze makes matters worse. I think the stuff stinks. The Fabreeze to reduce allergens smells good but I don't know if that would help.
Butterfly lovers suggestion to use baking soda just might work though.
It smells worse because now it smells like wet dog. Once it dries it will be fine. You may need to clean it a couple of times to get the smell out completely. Don't hire a professional to do it ...just get Rug Doctor machine with an apolstery brush and do it yourself.
Once you get it clean... then use Febreeze on it... should do the trick .
You can get something called 'Kids and Pets' at Wal-mart. You will been to put it in a spray bottle so you might have to buy one of those too. Spray down your couch and let it dry. It will smell great afterward. I don't use Frebreze because I'm allergice.

Sprinkle the area liberally with baking soda and leave it over night. Vaccum it off in the morning and the odor should be gone.
Try FeBreeeze. They have one specifically for pet odors.
Use some Fabreeze, I swear by it!
