I was confused because while I was watching the non-unlimited blade works version, I had a video bug on the 4th episode and decided to look at other videos. I ended up with what I realized is a remake of the anime (diff graphics/animation). I believe it's the Ufotable's version. And I looked it up and knew that they are the same but different in graphics and animation style. (DEEN vs Ufotable)
sooo I'm reaally confused right now. Is it really different in terms of storyline?

Fate/Stay Night is originally a visual novel with 3 routes: Fate, Unlimited Blade Works, and Heaven's Feel. Ideally, they should be read/watched in that order. However, they're not sequels. They take place on alternate timelines. Each route has a completely different story and different themes. As for the anime adaptions, Fate/Stay Night (2006) by Studio DEEN was an adaptation of the first route of the VN (Fate), but also tried to incorporate parts from the other routes (therefore spoiling them) and did not portray the main character (Shirou) correctly, leading to an overall mediocre adaption. They also made a movie adaption of Unlimited Blade Works, which compressed a 20 hour story into 2-hours by taking out most of the context that leads to each event. It's highly recommended that newcomers do not watch either adaptions by DEEN. Ufotable did an excellent anime adaption of Fate/Zero. They're now doing a 2-cour adaption of Unlimited Blade Works (one cour in Fall 2014 and one in Spring 2015). Afterwards, they're going to do a movie adaptation of Heaven's Feel. It's assumed to be a series of movies since the route is too big to fit into just one movie. There are currently no plans to do a better adaptation of the Fate route, so the only way to experience that correctly is through the Visual Novel.
