Do carpenter bees play dead?
I was sitting under my beautiful cherry tree watching the bees do their magic and I noticed a two carp bee having sex I thought. Anyway, at the end of there ritual or fight. One bee was hovering over the other for about thirty seconds while the other laid there motionless. After the bee flew away I went to check on the other bee. It was laying on its side and it looked dead. So then I thought they were fighting and that just happened to lose. But about another thirty seconds he or she got up and flew away as if he were playing dead.

No they are little creatures they dont have a si much developed brain. Try to observe one mire bee having intercourse it may do same thing i am pretty much sure. Not fully sure but sure.
