Do Cockatiels make good pets?
I have been debating about which bird I should get. I'm going to stick with a Cockatiel. :) I just wanted to know if it will make a good pet. The Cockatiel I want is from a breeder and it is hand fed. :) I want a female because their quieter and more affectionate. :) My cage size is 20x20x20 which is a only for bedtime and when I'm in school. The recommended cage for one Cockatiel is 18x18x24 but the height doesn't matter because the bird will be on the highest perch anyway.
Also, will a swing be okay for the bird or no? I have a swing for it.

getting a hand fed cockatiel is definitely the way to go, it makes them a lot easier to socialize and bond with. most cockatiels love swings, and it is a good idea to have one for it. also if you notice that your cockatiel is bored when you are home, my cockatiels enjoy sitting on a perch in front of a mirror. you can buy perches that stick to mirrors, they are meant for showers but you can stick them to most surfaces (has a suction cups on it), and that way your cockatiel can feel like they have company. if you ever have any problems with your cockatiel later on go to http://www.cockatielcottage.net/ this website should have all the info you need. you can also email the creater of the website, she is a lot of help.

The cockatiels are among the most popular birds and are friendly and easy to tame. They are capable of mimicking speech, although they may be difficult to understand. However they are good at whistling and can often be taught to whistle tunes.

buy baby hand feed cockatiel so you can hold and they are tame. I bought two from Petco big mistake want do nothing but sit there.
