There have been a lot of experts on transgender people here, explaining the differences between transvestites, cross dressers, inter-sexed, and transsexuals. So for the experts do you even know anybody who is transgender? Do you know a transsexual? Do you know what we go through daily?
This is the life I have many say; I am cursing God or say I am fighting a losing battle. How dare I change my physical sex to match my mental sex. I have even heard I don't belong grouped with GLBT. Why not? Why hate somebody who might be different but is still a person with feelings, thoughts and desires? Why do people think they can look something up on the web and instantly they are an expert? If you don't have a relationship with a Ts or if you are not a Ts then how could you judge? Ok several questions at once.
Update:Let me add this: I was not in anyway attempting to sound better then anybody, or was I trying to upset any Ts that might read this. I am a Ts myself and no I am not an expert either; well I am on my own feelings.
This question was more directed toward people who are crude and down right evil every time a question is posed about transsexuals.

Well, I've never claimed to be an 'expert'...but I do answer a LOT of questions about this subject. I post web links too; simply because it saves me typing out the same thing over and over.
And yes, I do know a lot of transsexual people, and a lot of transgender people, too.
I'm certainly not a expert nor am I offended by the wording of your question. I usually just answer questions on this subject based on my own personal experiences. I do sometimes post links if I think they may help or to back up a point I am attempting to make. Judy makes a good point, the people that seem to dislike us are strangely silent but that is not a surprise as I have asked questions in the past wondering why we are disliked. Seems the only answers I received were from supporters. People do not like to be asked to look inside at there own bigotry I guess. However to answer your question, yes I know me and a few other Transwomen, both Pre and Post Op but I only really consider a couple of them as true friends.
I'm certainly not an academic expert, when I speak about transsexual/intersexed issues I'm referencing, my personal life experience, and what I have learned through self education, and through talking to other intersexed and transsexual individuals.
A little about me, I come from an artistic & engineering background, I used to work in the Aero-space industry
I was officially diagnosed Gender Identity Disorder as primary transsexual a few years ago, only later to find out that I'm a Mosaic Klinesfelter's with natural ovaries, thus I'm technically intersexed.
after being discriminated against and loosing my job going through a divorce and being estranged to my youngest daughter, I decided to change careers, and work towards my Juris Doctorate, and become an Attorney, I was originally considering patent law, but seem to be finding more of an interest in civil laws surrounding transgender issues.
do I know any transsexual, Transgender, or intersexed people, yes.. being one myself, and presently dating another transwomen whom I'm engaged too, and being an active participant in several different organizations..
I think I can honestly say yes, I know a transsexual or two.
I do not consider myself an academic expert on transsexual condition but I do have a life times worth of experience dealing with this issue. I do post on here from time to time. But only to share my experience and give positive support to others going through what I have and am still going through on my life's journey. I have experienced allot of hate in the real world and online just for being who I am. I hope I am do some good on here.
And yes, I do know a transsexuals. In fact I know a lot of them and they are very nice caring people.
I find it interesting that the people that Sabrina is challenging with this question are suddenly silent.
I am not an expert, however I have been involved in the trans community for 11 years. I know people who are all over the gender spectrum; crossdressers, transgendered, and transsexual.
No expert here, either. Although we seem to have a good amount of trans people here.
There is a TON of myth and simple lies that are seemingly floating around about what makes a T person T...etc.
There are a lot of people here who love to run us down, laugh in our faces, judge us.....whatever.
I wouldn't be alive if I had waited, or not gone forward. I wish people could see that this really is a decision to save your life.
Peace, girl.
If it makes you feel any better: the majority of people i've seen who answer questions on TG/TS/CD topics on Yahoo Answers appear to be TG/TS/CD themselves. Not everyone certainly, but the bulk of those answers do seem to be rooted in some personal and community derived experiences.
That said, i still find myself disagreeing with things some folks say, which is understandable: We all have our own different experiences regarding our gender!
