MAC's are better for graphic design and desktop publishing in my experience and are generally more stable and look nicer in my opinion. Not as much love went into the coding of Microsoft Windows operating system - it always seems to be a rush job. Sadly, MAC software is often more expensive than Windows and as most software is available for Windows, some is not for the MAC but there are usually alternatives available that are more than adequate.
I would recommend a MAC to you but if you decide to get a 'PC' instead, try "Linux" first instead of "windows" - it's a lot cheaper (sometimes free), it has less issues and problems and its more configurable and is constantly being worked on and improved (open source - like Mozillasoft). Another alternative which I'm aware of but don't know anyone who's tried it yet - get a MAC and temporarily run a Windows emulator over the MAC Operating system - that way you might be able to run windows software ontop the MAC platform (best of both worlds).
Cheers, Pete.
PS: I run a modified Windows XP on my PC and I'm quite happy with it.
I replaced all of the windows components with 3rd-party software and I've just changed the visual style to that of a MAC operating system ;)
MAC! it is the basically solid computing device device available. those who say living house windows comprehend macs are better valuable yet are too embarrassed to admit it so that they stick up for his or her personal computing device.
I KNOW Mac's are better (just look at Vista) but unfortunately I don't know how to use one. I've used one maybe twice and it's completely different. But I have no doubt they are the best. I guess I'm just sort of fearful of learning how to use one. They have the best graphics, definitely.

I always joke that I've gone to the "dark side". I love my Mac! It's so user-friendly and I love how it is virtually safe from viruses!
Best wishes!
