Mainstream rap is alive and well, it's real Hip Hop that's almost dead. Mainstream rap is what's bringing in the most money but it is killing the true meaning of Hip Hop. I can hardly handle the radio today...much rather bump my late 90's/early 2000's rap and scope out creative & intelligent underground artists.

yes def. why becuase most artist today is no diversity and the difference between todays rap is very heavy materialistic than the 90s and the 80s. Trust the only artist i really listen to now is joey bada$$ trust me he is very talented and he is also underground. I give you some good undeeground artist big krit lupe fiasco and kendrick lamar they dope trust me. is a shame man only a few people in this world are true hip hop fans and lots of people are fickle they only listen to a a song example bitches love me by lil wayne and next 3 or 6 months they will not listen to that song ever again and move on and forget about that song trust me is sad as hell really. smh people these days.

How dare you circulate around asserting rap isn't music? in simple terms on the grounds that's misrepresented contained in the mainstream media does no longer mean its no longer worth admire. Rap/hip hop very like rock and different genres has a historic past that merits love and admire. in step with hazard in case you stopped listening to mainstream rubbish and actually did a sprint prognosis on the historic past and all the different songs that quite do have which ability and intensity then you could in step with hazard have the middle to alter your ideas. i think of its unfair which you would be able to choose a sort of music like that. Yes, I haven't seen a actual mainstream rapper in years who I can consider rap and or good.
