...And thought to yourself, 'Man, isn't that The Sound that new bands (and a few pop stars too) are still trying to emulate (20 years on)?'
Of course, I'm referring very specifically to the signature sound of 'Mutt' Lange's production.
Update:To Junior Ramos: I'm focusing on these - the 'wall-of-sound' production (which was still unusual in the 80's). Also, I'm talking about the influence that 80's metal still has on commercial ‘pop’, such as ‘chick rock’ of today. Pop didn't always have heavy guitars in it, mind you.

Yes, I have thought that very same thing.
Funny how it all comes around again...
Seems like a lot of the "New" sounds are more into the style of the 80's bands..
I was a huge Def Leopard fan back then.. unfortunatly I got thrown out of their concert for .. get this.. being to wild and rowdy?? Man that pissed me off.. of course I was so drunk I didn't even know it happened until the next day lol...
one of the main reasons I gave up drinking !!
I'll have to disagree. todays bands sound nothing like def Leppard heck even def leppard of today doesnt sound like pyromania/hysteria
what I find funny is the younger generation thinking that they are new.....meanwhile most of the great music came out in the 80s....they (the younger generation) were just a twinkle in their mother's eye....
Yes, their music was profound back then and still is today--Pour some sugar on me is my fave!!!!
