Okay so there's a Video setting in Far Cry 3 (PC) and it is GPU Max Frame Buffer (options are off,1,2,3,4,5).
I am wondering, what option is for best quality? ... And what is gpu frame buffer and would high-end pc's benefit from it?
Atualizada:Aha.. my GPU is the GTX 570.. My MSAA is at 8x (the highest).
The game runs smooth on maximum settings. When I set the maximum frame buffer to 5, there's too much stutter (input lag).
.. Could you explain what GPU Frame buffer does to improve the quality?

The higher the better. If you can get it to 5 without the screen moving too fast for the mouse input, great. If you start to see input control lag, try leaving it at 3 or lower. If you do leave MSAA on, note that you will have significantly more stuttering with a higher GPU frame buffer amount. Some are suggesting just to leave it off, because the NVIDIA drivers are currently not optimized for these in-game settings.
If you're using an AMD GPU, try it out. You may notice an improvement.

Few things. Go to your nvidia control panel, go to manage 3d settings and change the following Multi/Display mixed gpu acceleration to : Single Display Performance mode Power Management mode : Prefer Maximum Performance Triple Buffering : On Vertical Sync : Force On If you have never before changed these 3d settings all is good, otherwise make sure everything is on application controlled, or nvidia's default/recommended setting. unless you know what you're doing. Secondly (this is what i think is the real issue here, but the above is what i do on every graphics card, from crap to best graphics card i own) go to skyrim launcher-options-advanced-view distance now here, if everything is set to max, we have your problem, card isn't handling view distances so lower them. (just try lowering them all to half or something, mess around with it till you find which one is causing the lag) Thirdly (unlikely because you were running at good framerates) Disable antialiasing (this is a framerate eater, and the first thing i tend to turn down in games, but it does att some quality to the game so its worth having on if you can) and untick FXAA in advanced Fourthly (unlikely because you were running at good framerates) Lower the shadows settings to low or medium. (i've got a beastly nvidia card but i'm running this at medium, in return for using antialiasing.)
Good answers, just what I was looking for.
I wish to ask the same question as the previous person.
