Graphics card update has destroyed PC?

I don't know what to do :(. A week ago I got Sims 3 Late Night and the game seemed to lag a lot, I then found out that the graphics card was last updated in 2004, so I thought I'd take a look on the NVIDIA site and update it. I didn't know the name of the graphics card so I put it on automatic detect - it couldn't find anything. So I used internet explorer and found the right graphics card. I downloaded it and updated it, restarted and since something has gone horribly wrong. The PC came back on and the screen was overly big, it's slightly blurred too. I changed the screen resolution and now there's a black bar at the side of my screen. Whats more, I tried to run the Sims 3 and it says my Graphics card cannot be detected. The NVIDIA site said it was UPDATING the graphics card, but it's made it worse :o and I don't know what to do for the best now. When you scroll down on the internet it takes about 10 seconds to actually do so...so I'm thinking something has gone horribly wrong. Is there a way to restore the PC back to the way it was? Or even update the graphics card to work better again? Please help someone. My PC is XP.

If anyone wants my full dxdiag then leave their emails and i'll send it to you.
