I have the alltel UM175 wireless modem, and every time I boot up my computer, it stays at the screen and says BOOT FROM CD...I don't want it to, and it eventually ignores it, but after about 5 minutes.
For some reason, the modem shows up in drive E: CD Drive.
The only way I could speed it up would be to unplug the modem then plug it back in, or just wait 5 minutes until it boots up.
In windows Vista, how do I access the BIOS system so I can disable BOOT from CD?
Thanks.

You have to enter the BIOS before your Operating System is loaded. usually this happens when you first start-up the computer. Normally you are asked to press DELETE or F2 to open setup. It will normally tell you what key to press to enter the setup.
Inside the setup (your BIOS settings) navigate to where you can choose your first second and third boot-up options, and change the first one to HDD-0 rather than CDROM.

It has nothing to do with the Operating system, it is all about the motherboard. On most motherboards you press DEL or F9 to access the BIOS, before windows starts booting. . . Restart your PC, and immediately press DEL or F9 when the system POSTS (Power -on Self Test). This is when the system scans the RAM and shows the system info. After the POST, the bootstrap loader starts loading Vista and you will see the windows loading bar. By this time you are too late and have to restart
You don't do that from Windows. When the system boots, watch the screen. You should see a message like "Press F1 for Setup" or along those lines.
That will bring you to the systems BIOS setup screen. In there, you'll find a boot options page. Set the option there.
OS has no relation with boot device option. So, go to in BIOS setup mode press DEL immediately after switching on your computer ( Please mind that there may be other key other than DEL, like F1, F2, depending upon BIOS. So if DEL doesn't work try with other keys). After entering on BIOS setup Choose boot device priority. Keep your Master Hard disk on first priority.
How To Get To Bios
You don't. You'll have to reboot the computer and access the BIOS that way, using whatever key during boot time that your computer uses for accessing that menu.
To get to BIOS with my old XP I just tapped on F12 like a maniac after powering on.
BTW, I could really use a good woman that will let me suck her toes and go down on her.
It really depends on the make of the machine,it's always one of the F'buttons that you first see on the dark screen directly after turning on the power and it's only there for a second before the OS starts loading, then it's too late.
