I asked one of my teachers who had a crow head which he had for at least 3 months now laying on his desk if I could have it for collecting purposes. He wasn't doing anything special to it anyway and he said it died of naturally so no my teacher didn't kill the bird. Anyways he said yes, I want it's skull it still has feathers and I think his eyes are still there too. This is my first "oddity" and I don't know what to do I've done some research, but it's not much help. Do I just leave it in my backyard for the bugs to do their thing or is there a different way? Please let me know, thanks! ((Sorry if I put this in the wrong category))
Update:@jim z
Yea i had a plastic bag and a glove in handy, just in case he did say yes I've done a lot of research about preserving animals lol, Thanks for the help!

We have crows that die around here sometimes in Southern California from West Nile so be sure you are careful handling it. I know you can get lye to leach out some tissue. I have seen them use carrion beetles to clean bones.
This might help
