drag and drop is one way to backup info.
the better way is to use the software that came with your external hard drive.
most externals will come with some software that can automatically backup the drive. did you get a cd with the external? or did your computer ask to download something when u connected it?
To copy an entire disk, software for that purpose is needed. Using Copy - Paste will leave out the Registry and all system / hidden files.
