So a few months ago I woke up to find my ASUS laptop screen black and a bunch of colors. I took it in and they said the inner screen was shattered and it would cost more than the laptop was worth to fix it. I ended up buying a new HP laptop and forgetting about my broken one. Now, a few months later I want to transfer the photos on there to my new laptop. I dont have them on my phone so they are not on the cloud but my laptop desktop in a file. These are really important photos of my bestfriend who passed away a year ago. I imagine there is a way to get the photos on my laptop without having to fix my ASUS screen. Maybe and HDMI chord? I dont know, please help im a clueless college student!

Either remove the hard drive as mentioned by Southpaw or connect the laptop to an external monitor or flatscreen TV - your Asus will have an external port for this purpose, just buy a suitable cable to connect possibly HDMI. Ideally take your asus to a local computer store and make a note of the external monitor or TV and they should be able to advise.
Then buy a flash drive and you should be able to copy them over once you can see what you are doing. You may also have to redirect the output to the external monitor there will be a function key combo to do this
