Depends on what software you're using, but most programs will have a help section where you can search the word "crop" and it'll direct you which icon to select.
Sometimes, the icon or option for cropping won't even appear until after you've selected a picture to crop, so open up the pic to be cropped first.... THEN look for the crop icon.
I use Roxio Photosuite and the symbol looks a little like this:

In what application is the picture loaded? If it weren't open already (in a program with an Edit menu), you could open it in Irfanview and crop as you choose.
