If the urn has just been purchased it will usually not have soil in the pores. In this case it is best to mix a composted manure such as "Black Cow" with the buttermilk or yogurt. This is a trick I learned from a stone mason for aging stone when they make repairs to existing stone work.I have used it very successfully on concrete and stone in landscapes.

Make it look after 3 teen-aged concrete urns. :-)
You can "paint" it with plain yogurt or buttermilk and this will encourage moss to grow on it.
