That depends, you can send it in to Microsoft and get it fixed officially, or you can void your warranty (if you still have one) by getting someone to fix it themselves. I have had this problem recently and sent it in to Microsoft after learning that there is a 3 year extended warranty for all red ring errors. They will pay for shipping and the repairs making it virtually free. Mine was gone only for 6 days, but some people I know have had theirs gone for about a month. I'm not really sure how you can find someone to fix it for you, but if you want to do it through Microsoft here's the website.
You cant fix it. just call Xbox support and tell them that you got an e74 and they will either fix it for free ( if its still under warranty) or you pay to have it fixed for like $100-180
like those guys said, but you dont need a warranty, i was at my friends house for about a month, and hes got that error while i was there and they will say it is a rare error and they will fix it for free and he didnt have warranty because he cousin gave it to him
