How do you *hook* a reader into a story?
I have English homework and the task reads, "write your own opening to a story and try to hook the reader in *from the start.* (Three paragraphs nearly)"
Do you have any tips?

What I'd do is to make it REALLY mysterious, like such that the person will not know about the main character until later on. Also, decide on what kind of audience you want to target at, so that you do not talk in a childish manner one moment and next moment use crazy words that kids can't understand at all. Hmm take the Halo 3 story line as an example. At the first part, there is this mysterious lady talking about the Chosen One, which will save the universe from all evil. And later you find out that his name is Master Chief. So, yeah. That's all I've got.
