While on the face of it sticky tape should work, it may leave a sticky deposit on the print head of HP style carts. Cling film (a few good layers) works better. Best to keep the carts in a cool damp place, to help prevent drying on the head. If they still dry, then leave in a sealed plastic box supported above a 'layer' of water in a warm place for a while.... usually works.
