Let's say you have a 20 point assignment, and have 18/20, 16/20, 14/20---how do you figure the total percentage based on the total number of points which is 390 for the course?
For a total grade, add up all the points you got -- 18, 16, 14, etc. and hang on to that total. That's your points earned. Then add up the total number of points everything is worth -- 20, 20, 20, etc. This is your total possible points. Divide the total points earned by the total points possible and multiply by 100. This is your total percentage.

You add up the top numbers then add up the bottom numbers so its 48/60 then you do 48/60 = x/100 then you do.. 48x100= 4800 divided by 60 which is 80%

you take the number of points you got divided by the number of points possible, then multiply by 100
