hello
So basically what needs to be done is an analysis of a particular scene...what that means is you need to gain an understanding of what you are seeing and the meaning it is trying to give.
in movies every aspect plays a role, sound, camera work music and visuals as well as the editing style.
for example: the lion king animation, the scene where mufasa is laying dead and simba comes to him....the music from the previous scene was very fast to progress what was happening which was action....a stampede. in this scene it changes to slow dramatic music which helps emphasize the feeling which is sadness, it helps evoke emotions in the audience. the sound of simbas voice echoes which high lights the emptiness and symbolises that simba is now alone. the colour and lighting has become dull and misty also emphasizing the sadness and emotional strain simba has now been thrown. the camera work has changed from long shots showing the environment of the stampede to very close shots of simba and mufasas dead boy symbolising the close relationship they once had while also allowing the audience to enter their space and make us feel more attached to this scenario. and the editing style has slowed down, the shot changes are not so rapid anymore and the distance of shots are not varied as much as in the stampede, which as i mentioned before is a faster more action involved scene. the edit style here does not cut between different places and scenarios it stays on mufasa and simba because it is dramatic and important for the viewers to stay engaged so that the full emotion is felt.
hope this helps you undrerstand....every tiny aspect of film inter-twines with the next they all connect to evoke certain feelings.
good luck!!
