Is a 2Ghz dual core processor good? My computer is running pretty slow and crashes a lot. I have found out it needs a new processor, and have been looking at a 2Ghz intel celeron Dual core one and was just wondering if it is any good? I already have 2GD RAM to run along side it.

It really depends on what kind of processor. A Celeron Dual-Core is pretty horrible no matter what GHz it is.
Go with at least Pentium Dual-Core:

Duel core processor run at same speed. in your case 2ghz. While you might notice a speed increase it's because they work together. Think about it if 2 men do the work, one doing some and the other doing some the workload should be completed faster. In your case one processor is doing a majority of the work and the other takes up the slack. It is hard to get them both to work at 100% at the same time unless your doing a lot of processing. In your task manager you will notice they are not doing the same amount of work. you can assign one processor to do one task while the other does another. Like 2 men doing two different jobs at the same time. More work done but no mater how you slice it 2GHZ will still be your speed.
I have the same processor and ram as you. I upgraded a couple of months back and I am happy with the speed. I work on the basis that if something is working for you, and you can run all the applications you want, great. If not, upgrade. There are better processors etc than 2Ghz, but technology is constantly changing and improving. Even if we buy the very best there is now, something better will come along in a few months.
What CPU and motherboard do you have? Without this info, we can't even compare them.
That said, "a 2Ghz intel celeron Dual core" CPU is literally a Dual Core CPU that failed in testing, but still works, only much slower than it should. Intel renames them to Celeron and calls them ENTRY LEVEL CPUs. These things are not worth buying!
"My computer is running pretty slow and crashes a lot."
This is the REAL problem, and you need to find out what is causing that. Best guess, it's malware, "bit-rot", and / or bad device drivers, or maybe even defective components.
Re-install Windows, after doing a backup, and all your problems will be resolved.
TIP: Take your PC to a good repair shop if you don't know how to do a "Clean Install". You probably won't even need a new CPU, when repaired.
i used to have a 2ghz laptop and now to be honest with yo its realy bad so i bought a new desktop with an intel core 2 quad Q9400 @ 2.66GHz and its very good and it wasnt alot of money either well the cpu is around 200 pounds and the 2ghz one ur saying is like 50 pounds so there is a diffrence and a big jump. 2.33ghz dual core prosesor wold be much better its only like 20 pounds more. or a 2.2ghz procesor or evan a intel core 2 quad Q6600 at 2.4ghz its the best sold procesor.
hope this helped!
good luck!

Imagine two rivers. They each go at 30 knots speed. Imagine throwing 600 kilos of garbage in the river. If the river splits this in half it can share a load of 300 kilos on each side vs 600 kilo if there was only one. Obviously the split will be faster because there are more channels for the garbage. The speed with which they reach the other side is 30 knots and will not stack if there are more then one channel. If there was another river with 60 knot speeds it will get the garbage to the other side in less time. Which means the 60 knot can get the same amount over on the other side as two 30 knot channels. However, the 60 knot river's garbage will touch the other side first and that is the only difference. In essence, adding another river that is 30 knots will not make the overall speed 60 knots. The garbage however small or large will get over in parts at 30 knots whether you have 1 or 8 rivers.
It depends, it isnt bad at all but your ram and motherboard makes a huge difference aswell. If i had the choice between 8 gb of ram and a 2gh processor or a 8 gh processor (lol) and 2 gb of ram i would choose the ram.
It's 2GB RAM not GD. And the RAM is absolutely fine. The processor is not bad because it is dual core but it still is not great. It is decent. But that should not be the problem for the slow down. Try comodo registry cleaner. it is the best reg cleaner. it sorts out safe to delete from unsafe to delete so there WILL be no errors. Also comodo firewall is rated and tested the best firewall. All comodo products for home and private users. Try using A2 free to scan for bad guys. use avast home and threat fire. i think it is spy ware and or a virus.
2GHz is pretty aged in computing terms by now. You can get up to 4GHz processors, and above now (mainly through overclocking).
However, it's likely your PC's motherboard will only be able to stand 2GHz/3GHz technology, guessing upon it's age.
Actually It'll run just fine, but if you can afford it I would recommend a 2.66Ghz Quad Core processor.
Good Luck ;-)
