Late 80s were the last produced MCs that were rear wheel drive. I have a 2004 Monte Carlo Intimidator and it is definitely front wheel drive. I would have a difficult time pulling doughnuts in the parking lot.
And to the first responder, NO, not all cars are rear wheel drive. Cars can have four-, all wheel-, or front wheel drive. It all depends on makes, models and sometimes modifications (i.e. Gravedigger)
The 1988 Monte Carlo was the last rear wheel drive Monte produced. They were only produced a few days in 1988 but they do exist. If my memory serves me well, January 11th of 1988 was the last rear wheel drive Monte off the Arlington, Texas assembly line. Since then all Monte's are FWD. So...RWD from 1970 to 1988....FWD since.
Newer ones are front drive cheaper to make. However if you a looking for a fast rear drive car try BMW M3 at least they don't worry about 30-40 bucks a car and still know how to build performance machines.
originals were rear wheel drive all models from 90s on were front.....if its a fast rear drive you after ignore what 1 guy said abiout the M£ save your cash and get the new mustang shelby cobra
dude..the guy who answere first...is totally wrong...most of the new car are fron wheel drive...exepct for high proformance cars, truck, and SUVs..so no..the newer ones are front wheele drive...they are considering making them rear wheele drive again to "make them seem more like the ones you see in nascar"..i read that in some magizine.....
