I wouldn't buy Acer or Gateway(owned by Acer now).
The computers themselves are not that bad.The problem is their non-existant warranty support. I know someone who has had to send in his laptop 4 times to the repair depot because it kept coming back with new problems. He had to pay for shipping each time.
Acers computers are comparable to Dell and HP, but cost less because they do not advertise, Acer Makes a great PC, I've had 2 for over 5 years without any serious problems.
They are not a bad company, but they do specialize in less expensive models here in the US.
So, if you buy one, don't expect it to be the Rolls Royce of computers. Expect it to be more like the Honda Civic. Cheap, reliable and probably has roll-up windows.
