This is my first year, transferring from a public school to Connection Academy PA. I'm in the 10th grade and I take all honors classes. I actually love the school.
One thing for sure, if you get behind, the work piles up and stresses you out. But I actually feel like that pushes me. You have a planner that shows you exactly what lesson was given that day, and I put all of my live lesson times on there too. If you get behind you start to fall, and this pushes me to get everything done. But at the same time, the teachers don't mind of you're just like 2 or 3 lessons behind and you're working on getting caught up, it's when you get about 10 lessons behind that they really start worrying. The lessons have a short pep-talk, then they tell you to read a section in your book, then you complete a worksheet and you're done! It's very straightforward. If you still don't understand the topic, just use YouTube or some educational sites. Or email your teacher, all of my teachers are super friendly. I'm doing better in this school than any other school! It's the best.
If you want to check your grades out, just open the gradebook and you can see everything. If you forget what was taught for one lesson, you can open that exact lesson back up again or go to the message board and watch the recording. It's so organized.
As for the honor code. I do follow it. It's best to know the stuff on the top of your head instead of cheating your way though school. Yes there are times where I'll sneak a peek at my notes for some guidance though. But the portfolios and open-ended questions are so specific, that it would be impossible to cheat on them, literally. Even the questions are pretty specific.
Overall, yes I love this school! I'm learning so much more than in a public school. But I still stay active by going to the gym a few times a week and hanging out with friends. I'm going to stay with them until I graduate (:
