Amid queries regarding his homosexuality, his agent would only allude to it by saying, "Chances are" and " It's Not For Me To Say", which were recordings the artist had made. In a 1982 Us Magazine article, Mathis was quoted as having said, "Homosexuality is a way of life that I've grown accustomed to." Us Magazine later retracted the statement. After more than twenty years of silence on the subject, Mathis revealed in an interview in 2006 that his silence was due to death threats he received as a result of that 1982 article. On April 13, 2006, Mathis granted a podcast interview with The Strip in which he talked about the subject once again, and how some of his reticence to speak of the subject was partially generational.
Umm, Johnny Mathis didn't come out and state openly that he's a homosexual. Even if he's is one he's not admitting it. His website mentions nothing whatsoever. He sued the magazine to print a retraction. Blaming something on a generation doesn't wash. Where is this so-called radio broadcast where he admits to being a homo? There isn't one. He's never openly admitted being homosexual. Even more curious none of his homo boyfriends & sex partners have come forward to speak or write tell all books or give tabloid interviews. Strange how a big celebrity, living as voracious open homo can exist for more than 50 years in the closet w/o incident.
My grandma is a huge fan of Johnny Mathis. And Yes, He is gay. But Im not sure he is out, but he sings about girls. Yet, he admitted he was gay in 1982.
Yes. And don't worry about the Britt (below). Closet cases like him usually end up pestering you for sex after they come out. Now when he does, we can all mail him a copy of today's answer and tell him to have a w**k! Oops! I see someone reported him.......
He identifies as gay now, but he experimented with heterosexuality and has a grown daughter, who looks a lot like him. No lovers, male or female, have come forward because Mathis, himself admits that he's never had a relationship that lasted longer than a few months. He's lived alone his entire adult life. Really no romantic life to speak of.
