yes. It was sad, but right. the man who started it all and helped everyone for the better good had has life end knowing he made the world a better place than he found it (read the tombstone at the end) plus lincoln putting the swan on top of the tombstone. great symbolism, it was the scofield icon since he first started this whole escapade. btw, i like the irony, one brother sets out to save his other brother's life who's gonna die, yet the one whose supposed to die doesnt. There were clues leading up to this before it happened (remember an earlier episode, licoln said b4 he knew his mother was still alive, she died at 31 from the same problem, and scofield died at 31, plus it was obvious, the nose bleed at the end and lincoln and sucre telling their loved ones they would leave and be back in a couple of days.) scofield died and his son, also named michael, will carry out his legacy.
But then again we never saw his body and I doubt Lincoln and the rest of them went back in the prison to collect the body and bury him. The grave looks like it might have been there just for memories of Michael. Besides Michael's mother survived after all those years when they thought she was dead, maybe this is hinting something similar may happen to Michael.
This might sound ridiculous but there could be a plot twist in the upcoming season 5 (confirmed in June 2015 :D) where he's not dead and he wakes up fully cured of his cancer with no memory of the past events whatsoever, and he finds himself working for others (like the company) who kidnapped him shortly after he supposedly electrocuted himself and survived. He spends the next 4 years working for these people. Eventually he gets these flashbacks and tries to find answers, and works to break out of wherever he is because he's not allowed to leave. Clues keep building up about his past and he goes on a journey to find his friends and family while trying to dodge many obstacles along the way. The people he works for come after him and he's on the run. Eventually his memory hits him pretty hard and he remembers everything starting from Fox River to the female prison, and finds Lincoln, Sara, Sucre etc and reunites with them and his son. They run into some trouble while trying to avoid the people coming after Michael and finally they escape and really are free.
Okay okay it all sounds crazy but one can dream can't they? :P
that's what i understood from the sight of his grave, but yet i didn't see his dead body.
one option for an eventual come back will be that he passed for dead, like his mom did before him, while he's in better Company.
Scofield's death is announced from the beginning, that's his third spoken sentence in the first episode of season one: after he got tatooed he says to the woman he doesn't have years ahead of him.
yes he died in nov. of 2005. did anyone find this date to be an error. Were there any shots that took place after this date. I'm not 100% positive, but most of the cars they drove around in the later seasons looked like later model cars. The escalade hybrid for example. Just thought that was pretty obvious. But yes he died. I almost cried because it was such a shock when i realized they met at a cemetary.
yeah but he could never survive the electric shock and if he did he would have been locked up and the whole point of the ending is that he sacrifices himself for sara as he is dying from a tumour anyway so he would have died from that even if not an electric shock sorry i wish he wasnt dead :( lol
