Is the Sony ECM-HST1 stereo mic compatible with the Sony HDR-SR5?
Looking for a mic for my HDR-SR5 (a discontinued camera) and know that the Sony ECM-HGZ1 works but I heard that the Sony ECM-HST1 is better but I'm not sure if it's compatible.
I'm slightly untimely however have the distinct same challenge. I've a Sony Handycam pj260v and a rode nt3 mic that I desired to attach for recording reside tune. I do get sound with the outside mic but very faint. Anyway I made an appointment with a tune store the next day to come with their expert to troubleshoot. I'll submit if they provide me an answer. Update: The mic did work with an amp. The amp used to be plugged into the a/v port on the camera and the mic used to be nonetheless plugged into the mic port on the camera. This surprised me as I notion the mic would go via the amp. The character serving to me drawback shoot stated plugging it directly into the amp would overload the camera however having the amp plugged in will nonetheless boost the signal. In my case that is frequently worth it to get a just right recording of the music and i'm stationary. This installed may or is probably not worth it to your case but notion i would share.
The Sony ECM-HGZ1 Shotgun microphone is inexpensive with surprisingly high fidelity for the price. It does almost as well as some of my professional, wired mikes. It attaches easily to the hot shoe of my Handicam. No batteries are neeed. Rated against professional shotgun mikes which cost over ten times as much and have a five star rating, the ECM HGZ1 is at least a four star mike.

If the MIC has the ability to have a wire plugged into it so the other end of the wire can fit in your camcorder, should work
