We are planning a trip to Universal Studios on April 30-May 1, 2013, it is a Tuesday & Wednesday. Should we purchase the "Universal Express Pass" for those days? There is four of us, and that really adds up.

in my opinion its not worth it.
if you go on a day when the express pass is at its cheapest that means the crowd levels are low and you won't wait very long in the regular line making the express pass unnecessary.
if you go on a day when the express pass is at its most expensive that means that the crowd level is high and you will wait a while in lines but its not worth how expensive it is in my opinion.
april 30th/may 1st is a low crowd time therefore the express pass is not needed.
I do not think its worth it. It sounds like a great idea but the reality does not come anywhere near the advertisement.
The price for the pass varies. When its cheaper that means park attendance is projected to be low. In those cases you honestly do not really need it. Sure you will jump to the front if there is one but often there really is little to no line. So you just wasted the money.
On really busy days the pass prices shoots up to be almost as much as the part ticket itself. Then what you run into is the problem that loads of other people just bought the same pass. This quickly overloads the system and then you have lines that are a little bit shorter then regular line but not by much. It was not uncommon to wait 30 to 40 mins in the express line.
The express pass does not work on every ride. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter forbidden journey ride does not accept Express Pass.
Sure there are times when the pass does live up to its promise and you do get skip a massive line. However, its been my experience that you end up paying a ton of money to wait in long lines just like everyone else.
It's only worth it if you go during a very crowded time (i.e. a popular holiday), and even then only if you have a lot of extra money you don't need. I have visited Universal Orlando during that time frame before and managed to ride everything I wanted to without crazy lines. The longest lines are going to be for the most popular rides, and even then you can expect only about a 30-45 minute or so wait (maybe more for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, but the Express Pass can't be used for that ride anyway).
You can get by without
It doesn't even work for every ride, and costs an insane amount of money.
The lines aren't really that bad, and you can get through in no time if you go in a single rider lane (I know they have one on the mummy, not sure about others)
Hello, It relies on if you find yourself going, on the grounds that on busy days and seasons, it's fully worth it. However on "desertic" days, you cross to the rollercoaster in only a few minutes. Its your alternative :) Hope it helped :)
