If you only have a cell phone you have to set up a pre paid account with the phone company that does the collect calls for the jail. I can't remember their name, but if you call the justice center they will tell you and give you the 1800 number you call to set up the account, or try looking on the hamilton county website. I remember it was pretty expensive, it was like $10 everytime you want to add minutes and you had to add at least $15 worth of minutes each time. For $25 so end up getting like 4 phone calls, they have a time limit too and cut you off If you have a regular land line phone they can call you collect anytime and setting up a pre paid account isn't necessary.
Its a sensible way to start. The site allows you to do a no cost scan simply to find out if any sort of data is in existence. A smaller analysis is done without cost. To get a detailed report its a modest payment.
You may not realize how many good reasons there are to try and find out more about the people around you. After all, whether you're talking about new friends, employees, doctors, caretakers for elderly family members, or even significant others, you, as a citizen, have a right to know whether the people you surround yourself with are who they say they are. This goes double in any situation that involves your children, which not only includes teachers and babysitters, but also scout masters, little league coaches and others. Bottom line, if you want to find out more about someone, you should perform a background check.
The Sheriff can take phone access away for any reason he/she wants. Sometimes the phone gets damaged or starts being misused. If inmates are using them for unauthorized things such as drug deals, requests for contraband or phone sex the best way to deal with it is to disconnect the phone. Since many jails have a pay phone in the common area that are for collect calls, it's difficult to determine who might be causing the problem (but you can bet that the other inmates know). If turning it off will cause a little peer pressure inside the cells, it can keep things running better.

Does anyone know the phone service at HCJC for inmates, and how much a collect call is? Can you do pre-pay for the inmates? Thanks.
