The Japanese like to say "itterashai!" when parting...in spirit it means "see ya and have a safe trip!" People say it at the airport or just when a family member leaves the house.
When you leave the house you should say "Ittekimasu" (I'm going) and the person staying behind should say "Itterashai." Itterashai doesn't really have a translation, it's just what you say when someone is leaving. When they return you should say "Okaeri!" (Welcome Back) and they should say "Tadaima!" (I'm back!)
