I worked at pizza hut for two years as a waitress in high school. quit after graduation last year. Idk about this restaurant, but yeah we got trained at pizza hut. You'll get trained at any job. You have to know the menu and answers to any questions someone might have about it. You have to know how this restaurant wants you to clean up and what their standards are. Like at pizza hut you had to have at least the first dish removed within 2 minutes of the table leaving, and it totally cleaned after 5. The salad bar had to be a certain temperature and you had to refill it when things got to a certain level. You'll learn more as you go along. There's a lot to learn at a restaurant. At pizza hut, how well you got trained just depended on who the manager had scheduled to be the other wait on your first day. You would just shadow them when they went to their tables and listen when they answered the phone, and they would walk you through your list of everything you had to do on a daily basis before you could go home. The list had things like flip the salad bar (rinse off things and put in new containers), wash dishes, sweep and mop, clean bathroom, take out trash, but those might not be a server's responsibilities at your job.
