Linksys Cisco Router Problem!?
I have this old router and a new modem. The modem is different because I was forced to get a new one cause of a power surge. Now, the router does not work and whenever I try to hook it all up, the DSL MODEM i have has internet and power and all that good stuff BUT the ETHERNET light does not flash up. It should flash up but it's not. All the connections are good and I reinstalled with a disk. It just does not work with the router. The ETHERNET light does not pop up.

Update:I can get internet if I directly connect my modem to my computer.

with your modem connected to the internet (WAN) port on your router
go to 192.168.1.1
enter your user name and password
default password is admin
default username (leave this blank)
once in go to Status tab and click on Release
wait about 10 seconds
click on Renew
wait 10 seconds
if nothing happens, reload the page
try going to google.com
