Hi there,
I just bought a domain name which ends in ".net" not ".com". So, now my e-mail address ends in ".net". No-one has had problems receiving or sending e-mails to me except my sister, who has a Mac laptop. My e-mails aren't reaching her and when she tried to send an e-mail to me she said the computer said it didn't recognise the address because it ended in ".net".
Do you know if this could be right? And, how could she change the laptop settings so it accepts a ".net" address?
thanks!
Emma
Update:Hi,
thanks for that info - I'll send it to my sister. She's using Hotmail and her ISP is Bigpond (in Australia).

Emma, take a look at the link below. It may not be Mail, it may be her ISP.
**Edit**
Emma, I just did a quick check at big bond and if it is the issue of .net with her ISP, I will be quite surprised. Here is the webmail configuration prompted at the login: [email protected] While it is webmail notice... .net
I'll keep searching for more info and post back if I find something.
I also found an article about Hotmail offering a new hotmail address for Aussies. Of course, I have no idea how old the post is but ck the second link. (Had to chuckle seeing a veggiemite ad... ewww)
Also since it it a new address for you perhaps hotmail is filtering your emails to her as spam.
Also she may need to set up you address in contacts before Mail will mail out. It would be helpful to know the exact message Mail is giving her.
Also here is BigPonds help section for Mac Mail 10.4 and 10.5..just as a double check. Since it sounds like the issue is only with .net addresses, I assume she is sending and receiving / or downloading other emails in Mac mail. That being the case, if she is downloading, and given bigpond is a .net address, it would seem the issue is with Hotmail....still looking for more
Last link is to a bigpond pdf about setting up wireless and references hotmail, gmail etc for setup on mobile, thought maybe it might help her to see the setup for mail ..though again I'm leaning with it being a hotmail.com.au issue. And have looked for info as a hotmail issue..can't find anything but older stuff.
