So I am on a MacBook (the original white version) with Mac OS X v.10.4.11. I have tried everything to get it to update to Mac OS X v.10.5 and the closest I got was running an update for Mac OS X v.10.5.1 but I couldn't open it because I am not on Mac OS X v.10.5. If anyone has (detailed) instructions on how to get Mac OS X v.10.5, it would be much help.

Hey, it is a laptop, which means it is PORTABLE!!!
So, take it to the nearest Apple Store, and the tech guys at the Genius Bar, can help you upgrade to OS X 10.6.8 ( Snow Leopard).
Unfortunately, your MacBook (circa 2006) is likely too old to run Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks or Yosemite. The Apple Tech guys can explain all of your Upgrade Options.
