i tried to install my MS wireless optical desktop 1000, but i lost the disks. When i plugged in the USB based wireless optical desktop receiver, my winXP shows device not recognized. I cannot find the related driver in the captioned. Can anyone advise ? thx.
Atualizada:Thanks all for the quick response. I had checked MS website which you all pointed out before this discussion. I can only find the mouse (Intellipoint) and kb (Intellitype) drivers but not the receiver. And the problem now is the receiver !! My laptop cannot recognize the "wireless optical desktop receiver", so not even to ask to recognize the mouse nor the kb. Hope you understand what i am asking.

Oh gawd.. THAT THING. What you do is move the receive so close to the keyboard that it might as well not be wireless. That thing has an effective range of about 3 feet. Other things to check are .. Your batteries, how much stuff you have in your USB pors., Are you using a USB hub, and if so is it powered (can you plug it in to the wall as well as the computer?) You need to deliver all 5 of the volts that USB provides to that wireless receiver. if you have a bunch of USB stuff, you may not be getting anough juice...
If you can’t find the right drivers manually I would recommend just getting a software program that can do it for you. There is a program I use which will find drivers for just about all hardware devices. The best part is it takes a snapshot of your system specifications and matches the right driver to go with it. Perform a free driver scan at:

It is never advised to use the disc anyway, as drivers get outdated rather quickly, so it is not a problem that you lost the disc. You can download the latest driver for your hardware using the link below. Make sure to download IntelliPoint for your mouse and IntelliType Pro for your keyboard to function.
