I'm paranoid because I keep hearing noises in my house. Everyone in the house is asleep. I have my cell next to me just in case. I have always been afraid of quiet houses at night. I keep looking around the house and have always found no one. I can't sleep because I keep hearing this. The doors are locked so no one can get in but I'm still afraid! What can I do to calm my fear?

Get a dog. I always know it's just the house settling or the furnace or the wind or whatever if the dogs don't pay attention.
I really think you just need to calm down. Sleep over at a friends house (prefereably a big house) and you'll notice that ALL houses make little noises here and there in the night. Heres a list of things that can cause noises:
There are hundreds of metres of piping on the house with water running through them, which can cause ALL KINDS of metallic noises, even banging as demonstrated by TAPS(The Atlantic Paranormal Society) when debunking noises in houses.
Unfortunately, most houses have a host of living house guests you don't know about such as rats or pigeons in the roof etc.
On windly days , there are hundreds of little places in houses for wind to come in and rattle things about, houses aren't solid seemless blocks.
Please don't be paranoid and learn to dismiss this stuff as normal house noises. A trick i learnt as a kid . Eventually you wont even hear them! i promise! after a few weeks of sleeping sound without incident, you'll realise that it was really nothing all along.
I have this problem as well. This paranoia comes from my ability to always know what is happening and to always be aware. All of us let our guards down at night because in our houses we are safe that is why i become afraid, because i dont pay attention at night . It is not uncommon for people to hear things at night, and sadly once you hear it you just cant let go of it. Try locking your door, drawing the blinds and sleeping with a knife under your pillow or a baseball bat or something. Listening to music is also a good distraction and all these things are only meant to put your mind at ease. Its best to remain in a small room rather than a big one because you will feel safer but just know that is reailty these sounds are just your house trying to comfort you and help you fall asleep
i've been up and down that road a million times
pull an all nighter with a few lights on
make a midnight snack
roam the house by yourself
keep busy online, but stay awake, and listen for the noises
there's nothing there, and you'll know that by the time the sun comes up
the next time you try to sleep, maybe you'll know that you're really not missing anything around the house at night ;)
i've pretty much come to conclusion that i don't have immsonia: i'm just scared of the dark. I can't sleep at night but am fine when the sun comes up i am gone. i've been like this my whole life. it helps to turn on a light and play calming music to put you sleep.
