I just downloaded a new game, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from butcher bay. whenever I try to start it, the screen goes black, and it says: "Cannot display this video mode, Optimum resolution: 1280x1024 at 60Hz" I can hear the sound but can't see the picture...
I tried to lower my resolution to 800x600 but still didn't work, I even made it run in 640x480 compatibility mode, still didn't work...
This happened in another game before and when i change the resolution the game works, but not with this game,...
Any ideas?

Some games and software will allow one to run the program in lower resolution and others will not, this is a design built into the software program by the designers and not a problem with your computer or monitor. Right click a blank spot on start/desk top screen, click properties adjust screen resolution to highest your computer will allow and click apply/save and see if it works if not compare the games spec's as to resolution for minimum setting. Go to the game manufacturers website and check the spec.'s and help files or contact them for assistance.
You must not be able to run that game AT ALL. The same happens with me on Just Cause 2.
