Okay, apparently I'm an idiot because I can't figure out how to solve this.
50/2 = 100/x
The solution that they give me is that x = 4 but I can't for the life of me figure out how they got that.
50/2 = 25 so that gives you
25 = 100/x then you multiply 100 on both sides to get
100 × 25 = x which means
x = 2500. Right???
Please answer the problem and and tell me where I went wrong and also show your work, step by step on the correct way to do it please.
Thanks!

50/2 = 100/x
Treat this as a proportion...cross multiplication yields:
50x = 200
x = 4
or you could take this approach
50/2 = 100/x
25 = 100/x
25x = 100
x = 100/25
x = 4
Or solve using a size change factor:
(2/2) * 50/2 = 100/4
x = 4
Cross multiplication will solve the problem
Place 50 over 2: 50/2
Equals 100 over X
Solve by multiplying 100 by 2 = 200
Divide 200 by 50
X=4
50/2 = 100/x
50x = 200
x = 4
NOTE
you reached
50/2 = 100/x
25 = 100/x
This is where you make an error by multiplying both sides by 100.
25 = 100/x
take the x up to the left so that 25x = 100
take the 25 underneath
x = 100/25
x = 4
