I've discovered "Cheesecake Factory" while on my recent trip to San Francisco. I really loved the restaurant and the food they serve. I'm coming to Manhattan this time, but I'm surprised to learn that they haven't got an outlet in there. So what would be the equivalent of "Cheesecake Factory" in terms of "Cheesecake Factory's" prices and food quality? I liked the restaurant that it serves good quality food for affordable prices (it's not like overly expensive, but it's not a very cheap place either, which is fine by me). So....any suggestions about similar restaurants in Manhattan? ( I'll be staying on the 8th Av and 49th Street, but it doesn't have to be very local; if there is a good restaurant similar to CF, I can travel.)

i totally agree with dagny k. you could go to the cheesecake factory in long island, or applebes or something like that... but why? your in manhattan! there're so many great restaurants all over, any type of food you could want. since your traveling, why don't you try something new? something you couldn't get anywhere else
OFFICIALLY IT IS NEITHER, IT IS CLASSIFIEDS IN IT'S OWN SECTION! I looked it up and found it's officially it's own "cheesecake". However it is much closer to a pie than a cake. The name has nothing to do with it whatsoever. Think of a pumpkin pie or lemon pie. Looks just like a cheesecake. When you get right down to it- * A cake is made out of a bread-like material, rises when it is baked, and lacks a crust. * A pie has some kind of filling, has a crust, and stays the same level when it bakes. Those are the official definitions of both. A cheesecake fills all the quota for a pie and not one for a cake.
OMG, you are in Manhattan, home to some of the finest restaurants in the country. The kind with REAL chefs, but you want to eat at a chain?
Lord, why travel? Stay home and pretend you are in NYC.
P.S. Their food stinks! If you think this is good, then man you have not EATEN!
There is a cheesecake factory in Providence Rhode Island.....it is maybe 3 hours from there if you are willing to travel that far!
