It is either brake dust or the compound in the brake pads. First try spraying them down as someone else suggested, using a high pressure sprayer into the wheelwells over and around the tires. [BTW -I can't believe people gave him thumbs-down! I worked in 2 VW dealer service departments and that was a standard recommendation]

If they still squeak, take them back and ask them to examine the pads and rotors and to explain. If they say it is normal for that compound, then get on their case for not first advising you of the different compounds and the pros/cons of each, so that you could make an informed decision.

Sometimes Disc brakes just squeek. There's a compound that can be put on the back of the pads that will help sometimes. Usually it will go away by itself over time.

Definitely take it back. Squeeky brakes are usually the indication that the brake pads are near the end of their life, but if you just had them replaced I don't see why this would be the case. One thing I do know: if you do need new brake pads and you wait too long, you'll also need new brake rotors, which are significantly more expensive. (This happened to me twice)

mustanger is right..sometime the guy/gal doing job cuts corners leaving out anti rattle clips and not putting anti squeak stuff on back of brakes...go back to them

It could just be dust - very common. Before taking it back and looking like a ditz, use a power sprayer on the underneath of your car and I'd bet the squeeking stops.
