I've noticed that when I type a certain key my computer will multiply the action several times. For example, when I hit the delete it will delete the initial selection but it will pause for a fraction of a second and delete three other selections that were not selected. It's not always the delete key. At one point it was the space bar and at another point it was the S key. My keyboard is clean and my buttons are not sticking. Got any idea what is causing this? I've experienced this on my older computer as well.

It this a desktop or laptop computer? Do you hear any beep when this happens? If yes, then perhaps "sticky keys" has been accidentally enabled. Sticky keys allows the user to press a modifier key, such as Shift, Ctrl, Alt, or the Windows key, and have it remain active until another key is pressed.
It can be disabled by pressing both Shift keys at the same time. Another way to disable it is to press on Ctrl and Shift at the same time, or to hold down the shift key for 5-10 seconds. On Windows XP, it can be disabled through the Control Panel's Accessibility options.
I would go to WordStart.com they can answer anything.
