I heard the same rumor, but nothing has been confirmed.

Depp would make an excellent Riddler, he can play any character given to him.

It could be true if the next Batman movie involves the Riddler. Johnny Depp is a good actor and may be right for the part. I would like to see someone with a better sense of humor be the Riddler, but it isn't up to me. I wouldn't mind seeing Jim Carrey play the Riddler again in a different atmosphere and point in his career.
