Very sadly no, I accidentally killed mine during the dawnguard main quest, but I and able to save edit and hex edit my xbox saves, so i brought him back to life, made him unkillable, and made it so he did 100 points of damage when he attacked. If you put your save somewhere where I can download it, I will do the same for you. Just edit this question to respond.
you will have a dying hound and an significant different stick to you at as quickly as, shadowmere does not rely, yet you cant have 2 canines, or 2 companions. So i assume if i'm analyzing your question precise, the dying hound won't stick to you because you have already got a canine..And if this facilitates, I have been given a dying hound and it died with like 2 hits from a bandit, it is not an extremely good follower..
