You put a soda on the counter and the cup has a minute crack in it and kinda dripping soda so you throw it away. Well you have the small drops of soda on the counter still that you forgot about and dont know or really see is there. So what it means is if you know how to look for what you had you could tell you had soda but "deleted" it. and Wiping it would mean taking a soapy sponge and cleaning it up so its gone forever.
The "Wipe free space" option in CCleaner writes over the space marked as free so as to render any data that was previously deleted to be permanently unreadable.
When starting the program it comes up in the "cleaner" option. There are boxes that are already checked. When you go to the bottom of the list of cleaning tasks, you will see boxes that are NOT checked already. One of them is "Wipe free space." It will take a little while. The "Wipe" option is near the bottom of this screen (notice the drag bar):
When you delete a file from your hard disk it doesn't actually erase it, just labels it free space. So if some body with the know how wanted to see what you erased they would be able to. The wipe will overwrite that area and thus your files will be erased.
