If you installed via hard copy once you attempt to login (if you have a battle.net account) you will be prompted to enter the code.
If bought it digitally (meaning you already have a battle.net account) then you are already set to go, login and play. the Game key is already linked to your account.
If you do not have a battle.net account, you can create an account at www.battle.net and register your game key there, permanently linking the game to that account.
If you already have an account you can also login and register your game online in the same manner.
Do not create a new account if you already have one. All Blizzard games can be managed through a single account on battle.net
