A company figured it needed 56.5 square feet of carpet for its reception room. To allow for waste, it was decided to order 30% more material than needed. Fractional parts of square feet cannot be ordered.
At $7 per square foot, how much would the carpet cost?

ordered area = 56.5 square feet of carpet + 30 % of 56.5 sq feet
130/100 * 56.5
= 73.45 sq feet
they need to thus order 74 sq feet carpet.
so, cost of carpet = $ 7 * 74
= $ 518
required= 56.5 + (56.5 * 30/100) = 73.45 sq. ft.
but has to be bought= 74 sq. ft.
cost = (74*7) = $ 518
