Ok. Imagine you are at a kill shelter. There are two dogs that you really want to adopt. A baby and a senior would you choose? They are both friendly and trained. Would you adopt the baby before he got a time to live or the senior to give him more time?
Update:Heather, thats the way i think, i would adopt both.
Update 3:Ummm, i said IMAGINE. Im not really in this situation.

Depends on the situation. But I like saving seniors because the puppies usually get adopted quickly and aren't as likely to be put down.
If both their deaths were upcoming, I would take both home with me. Spend a few days to a week with both to see which one you 'click' with. Then find a 'no kill' shelter in your area to take the unwanted dog to; chances are there's got to be a shelter within a few hours of you. If not, contact a local vet or go online to see if you can find someone who does pet fostering. Worst case scenario, you have to take one of the dogs back to the same shelter, and at least they had a short reprieve and a few happy days before moving on.
I would go with the puppy only because since its young you can still teach it a couple of tricks and stuff. And puppys are more cuddly at that age, seniors are more aggresive even when they are trained. They get scaredd and react. Puppies are more open so they can get used to people faster. And they love playing so if your young than you should get a puppy. But if you more mature and dont have time to play with your puppy than maybe its best to get a more mature dog.
Goodluck.
If i had the space, time and money, both. If not, the senior. A cute cuddly young puppy would get adopted quickly no doubt.
I would adopt the puppy. It sucks you can only pick one but the way I see it is the older dog already lived a long time and the puppy hasn't lived much. He deserves a chance to go to a good home and have a family. But that's just my opinion.
The baby beacuse, he is in a early stage of his life while the senior already had some good times, the babby or puppy can be very loyal to you cuase he has more time to know you while the senior doesn't have much time so he might become aggresive
I would get both. But I would feel bad for the senior pup but if it was REALLY OLD I would let the puppy have more time.
i would adopt both if i could! :)...
but if i had to choose i would choose the pup, because it hasent experienced much of life yet.. and the senior has....
good luck with what ever it is?
wellll, lol. i couldn't make a choice so i would adopt both of them. it would be too sad to just leave one of them to be put to sleep. that's just me though. if that's not how you think, then adopt the puppy so it will have a chance to live it's life.
i LOVE dogs as you can see by my name i would have to say take them both. if you need to take one and only one take the older dog. evey one loves puppys it has a better change of some one taking him over a older dog.
