I'm a little strapped for cash this month and need to keep the shopping bill as cheap as possible.
So far I've found tesco beans (17p) and Tesco bread (50p) to make beans on toast as the cheapest thing I can find but I don't want to live on that till pay day!
Does anyone know of any other cheap tesco value products I can make a meal of? Prefrebly under a Pound
Update:Eggs are a great idea thanks! I can't bring myself to buy the cheap ones though as they are from caged chickens :(

Sounds pretty serious.
There are lots of things you can do to beans to jazz them up a bit. Even a bit of chilli or Tabasco, and serving it on rice makes for a bit of a change. The odd egg is good too, and they are extremely versatile.
One month is a long time to live off a limited diet however, so perhaps more drastic action is required.
Check this site out. You may be close enough to the edge to participate. You'll have to think outside of the Tesco square though. The good news is that Freegans don't necessarily have to compromise their ethical standing on things like caged eggs if they really don't want to.

Further, some common weeds are perfectly edible (as well as tasty and nutritious) - not to mention free.

I would also suggest doing a bit of barter trade with neighbours, yard work for some food items that are nutritious and hard to obtain cheaply any other way without risking your personal health.
Chin up!
Hi,
If i was you, id forget the canned foods and go for eggs.
You cannot have too many eggs with yolks in a day. The maximum is about two.
However, a doctor once told me that we can have upto 20 egg whites in a day.
Im not sure how much the eggs are going to cost you. But if they are cheap, you can have upto 15 - 20 egg whites in a day.
Make them in different styles - poached, fried, boiled, scrambled.
That with some toast should keep you going for a while. Eggs have protein so you wont feel weak.
Cheers !
